On the 4th of May, Sotécnica and Longo Plano were present at the Cultural Center of Viana do Castelo during the Engenheiras Por Um Dia program. This initiative, coordinated by the Government through the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG) and INCoDe.2030, aimed to encourage young women students to consider careers in the technological and engineering areas, deconstructing the idea that these domains are exclusively male.
Committed to diversity and inclusion in the industry, Sotécnica and Longo Plano are proud to participate in this event, which sought to deconstruct the idea that engineering and technology are exclusively male domains. During the event, we had the presence of Ana Mendes – Business Unit Manager, Joana Lopes Figueira – Assistant Project Manager and Mónica Silva – Project Manager (Sotécnica); Patrícia Magalhães – Procurement and Supply Chain Manager (Long Plano); and Patrícia Martins – Talent Acquisition & HR Partner (HR, Energy Perimeter); representing the Perimeter Energy brands of the VINCI Energies Portugal group. Both had the opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge about the industry, in addition to showing how Sotécnica and Longo Plano are contributing to the energy transition.
According to Eurostat data, more than eight out of ten jobs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) areas in the European Union are held by men. In Portugal, the proportion of women with degrees in technology and engineering areas has been decreasing, from 26.2% in 1999 to 20.6% in 2017. These figures highlight the importance of programs such as Engenheiras Por Um Dia, which seek to reverse this trend and encourage young women’s interest in these careers from an early age.
Participation in the Engenheiras Por Um Dia program reinforces the group’s commitment to promoting gender equality and valuing diversity in this industry. The Perimeter Energy brands remain committed to opening doors and creating opportunities for more young women in the areas of engineering and technology.
