Brand Stories
04 November 2021Brand Stories: Luís Raimundo, IT Manager (VINCI Energies Portugal)
Can you introduce yourself? What is your role in the company?
My name is Luís Raimundo, I joined Sotécnica in July 1991 and I have been IT Manager of the VINCI Energies Portugal pole since 2005, when VINCI Energies entered Portugal through Sotécnica.
In a constant innovative area like IT, which was the most challenging project you have been involved in?
The Light Signaling Command and Control System (SCCSL) project at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport. This system controls the airport runway lighting in all its dimensions, of which I highlight the following:
- Criticality – the safety requirement of an aeronautical structure fundamental to the aircraft’s operation;
- Size – at the time it was the project in Portugal with the largest number of control points – around 30.000;
- Multidisciplinarity – the combination of various areas of IT, security, networking and automation, integrated into a single SCADA control system interconnecting not only the SCCSL, but also the transformation stations of the runway support centers (PT-CAP) and the Terminal Centralized Technical Management System (SGTC);
- Amplitude – the interconnection of the SGTC with PT-CAP and SCCSL implied the construction of a multi-manufacturer system in which all components dialogued in an integrated manner.
Safety is one of the main commitments of our brand. Which are the best practices you apply in your day-to-day?
Naturally, at the IT level, the security requirements are much higher than for the end user, so I will choose two important points:
- Fight Phishing – do not open unknown emails and always report them to the IT team, and never insert credentials on untrusted websites;
- Password protection – use a different password for each service and never mix company accounts with personal accounts.
Which will be the main challenges of Sotécnica’s activity in the current context we are living in?
Digital transformation is present in the activity on a daily basis, and there is an extensive work that has to be carried out in terms of process analysis and Change Management. IT tools are useless if there is no prior fine process analysis and the corresponding communication of change to all process actors. This will be, yes, the biggest challenge that we will have to face
