Ombria Resort: the perfect harmony with nature

A resort and a natural landscape in perfect harmony

Ombria Resort is a new luxury complex, located in Tôr (Loulé), in which sustainability, environment and the support for nature and local heritage are at the heart of the resort. This resort will include a luxury hotel, managed by Viceroy Hotels & Resorts, villas and apartments for housing and investment and a golf course.

The construction works on the new hospitality and residential complex started in early 2020, in which Sotécnica is responsible for the mechanical installations, which includes the supply and installation of HVAC equipment (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), CTM (centralized technical management), hydraulic and sanitation facilities and fire and gas networks.

The construction of the new resort will be completed in early 2022, when it is scheduled to open to the public.

Sustainability at the basis of the conception

Sustainability and balance with nature. Like Sotécnica, Ombria Resort is also committed to the environment, guided by good practices that ensure the sustainability of its hospitality and residential complex.

Following a bioclimatic architecture for the project’s design, the different buildings of the Ombria Resort will ensure a perfect harmony between the interior and exterior environment, increasing the energy efficiency of the resort, while reducing the ecological footprint.

Taking advantage of the natural resources the local space offers, together with technology to apply solutions that extend the life cycle of the construction, this type of design ensures the projection of spaces that guarantee the quality of life and the essential well-being for people who coabit in them.

In a perfect combination between the innovative and the traditional, the resort will, in the end, be an extension of the region’s landscape, while preserving the Algarve’s architectural roots for a complete harmony with the local environment.

Focus on the users’ well-being

Designed to obtain the maximum benefit from the natural resources of the area, as a way to ensure the long-term sustainability of the resort as well as the environment, the resort’s HVAC systems are adaptable to the particularities of the region’s climate, allowing guests and residents to breathe the fresh air of the surrounding nature.

Like the HVAC systems, the lighting of the entire project, both exterior and interior, was also designed to ensure the optimization of its consumption. Centralized control systems for indoor and outdoor lighting accompany the evolution of natural light, climate and the occupation of spaces throughout the day, in order to maximize the duration of the equipment and the energy efficiency of the complex.
